The Swedish melodic death metallers DARK TRANQUILITY have announced the departure of their guitarist, Christopher “Chris” Amott. Amott stated that there is no problem with the band and that he is leaving to pursue his own music road. On the other hand, the band announced that they are replacing the guitarist with Joey Concepcion, for the rest of the concert summer.
Amott referred to his decision in a related post: “Hi everyone. I made the decision to leave them DARK TRANQUILITY. There's no malice between us, but it's time to focus on new music, which I'm very proud of! I want to thank the rest of the band (and the fans!) for all the previous years of amazing concerts and I wish them the best. I'll see you all soon!".
On their part, the DARK TRANQUILITY They said goodbye to their guitarist with a corresponding post: “We regret to announce that Chris Amott is leaving the band to pursue his own musical path. It was our honor and pleasure to play with him and we part on good terms. He will be replaced in the immediate future by the amazing Joey Concepcion, who will be playing with us for the rest of the summer. Our mission remains the same – to explore the melancholy that adjoins rage. It is a path that has been opened by all the members of DARK TRANQUILITY – past and present. There may be new faces on the scene, but our extended family remains the same. Niklas Sundin continues to set the tone for our aesthetic and Martin Henriksson continues to be our manager. Our next task is to record our 13th album in the fall. We are excited about the new material and can't wait to introduce it to you."
