As part of the Beerbarians on the Warpath tour, the veterans of the German Thrash Tankard were on Friday February 10th at Kyttaros club. They are joined by Abyssus from the broader death metal sound as well as Convixion from the equivalent of speed thrash.
The night was opened by Abyssus. Truly the best and clearest sound...by far their presence is judged to be the best in terms of professional approach-performance. Loud, aptly rough and aggressive vocals, solid rhythm section, unmistakable (!), guitars full of death passion, acoustic excellence in solos, in fast couples... it makes sense that their latest album Death Revival has its place of honor in the set list but they didn't stop there, there were moments from the Into The Abyss album of 2015 as well as the Unleash the Storm Ep of 2018. The band managed once again to externalize the declared old school death with a very modern technical performance more devastating in its sound part. They finally have the ability to spread enthusiasm, robustness, dynamics... to meet the expectations of the public in short... the payoff proved it!
Convixion took over. From the first song, guitar and performance, it became clear that they are not selling fumars for metal ribbons. They honored both their albums in almost equal proportion, Convixion (2010), Days of Rage, Nights of Wrath (2016) but also the Ep Metal Drinkin' Conspiracy (2007) lavishly spreading their energy to the delight of the world that participated throughout during the set. Ok, given their sound refers to the 80's, but I think this is intentional to the point of being taken for granted and mostly expected, after all, they clearly serve speed/thrash... They don't hide it, they just support it admirably with generous sonic respect! Responsible and direct!
Tankard's time had arrived, to be honest I don't remember what time they came out, with reservation around 22.00 and… Thrash all the way down… enthusiastic Into the Pit, individual stage diving moments… They didn't procrastinate at all… Attack on all fronts… On stage, space, brain. Sterile humor to the point of self-mockery, constant advice to drink beer... Hello!, hello!,... and hello again!.. In fact, somewhere I heard from the singer Gerre that they were recording their concert for an upcoming live album... So be it!…They honored the world and were honored accordingly!…Due to time, morning wake up on 11/2, I left just before the end…
Conclusion, the live compensated those who were in Kyttaros. Fun, funding, energy, business returns!…The ticket money paid off. Best look?….Abyssus!
