The legendary British metallers MOTÖRHEAD This year marks 50 years since their founding. To commemorate this monumental anniversary, the band is preparing a series of releases and events that will to delight their fans worldwide. Among the first moves to celebrate are the anniversary vinyl editions of three of their most iconic albums: Overkill, Bomber and Ace Of Spades. These special editions will be released on February 28, 2025 and have been cut using the half-speed mastering method, offering improved sound quality. The vinyls will be available in unique color versions and will include an exclusive poster.
On May 8th, World Children's Day MOTÖRHEAD (International Motörhead Day) will be dedicated to the late Lemmy Kilmister, the man who embodied the spirit of the band. In his hometown of Stoke-On-Trent, a statue in his honor, created by the famous British artist Andy Edwards, will be unveiled as we have reported in previous articleThe Lemmy statue will have a special significance, as MOTÖRHEAD guitarist Phil Campbell will place Lemmy's ashes at its base.
Finally, MOTÖRHEAD have today released an HD version of their first ever TV appearance on “Top Of The Pops”. In the performance, the band performed their own version of “Louie Louie”, a classic rock ‘n’ roll track that was released as a single by Bronze Records. The song, performed by the band’s classic line-up – Lemmy Kilmister, Fast Eddie Clarke and Phil “Philthy Animal” Taylor – is one of their most beloved covers. The performance, which first took place on 14 September 1978, is a landmark in the band’s career.
